Meet Cami
Reiki teacher. Sound therapist. Yoga teacher. Space holder. Lifelong student of healing.
I’m Cami Coté, a Senior Licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training, Sound Therapist, and Experienced Yoga Teacher based in Missoula, Montana.
My path to Reiki began through yoga.
In 2006, while I was moving through a deeply personal infertility journey, one of my yoga students suggested that I take a Reiki class. Around that same time, my astrologer said something to me that stayed with me:
“You’re a healer and a teacher. What are you doing about that?”
I remember saying, “I teach yoga and I work in healthcare.”
Her response was simple.
“It’s more than that. Have you considered Reiki?”
Not long afterward, I met my first Reiki teacher. There was an immediate sense of recognition between us, the kind of connection that feels less like meeting someone new and more like finding a kindred spirit. I signed up for her class almost immediately.
I could not have known then how completely Reiki would become woven into my life.
What Reiki Changed for Me
One of the first things Reiki gave me was a meaningful way to work with my own emotions and nervous system.
I began to recognize that I could meet moments of overwhelm, uncertainty, and emotional intensity differently. I could pause. I could come back into my body. I could create a little more space around what I was feeling instead of being completely swept away by it.
That experience changed the way I understood healing.
Healing did not always have to mean fixing something. Sometimes it meant finding steadiness. Sometimes it meant being able to stay present with yourself. Sometimes it meant allowing the body, mind, and spirit enough space to soften.
As I began offering Reiki sessions to others, I saw how meaningful that kind of space could be for them, too.
That realization became one of the foundations of the work I offer today.
“The gift wasn’t escaping what I was feeling. It was learning how to stay present with myself through it.”
A Practice Rooted in Presence
Over the years, my own healing path has expanded through Reiki, Anusara Yoga, Shamanism, Clairvoyant Healing, Reflexology, Vibrational Sound Therapy, meditation, sound, and other contemplative and energetic practices.
But the heart of my work is simple.
Listen. Trust. Allow.
I believe healing does not always come from doing more. Sometimes it begins when we become quiet enough to notice what is already asking for our attention.
Whether I am teaching a Reiki class, working one-on-one with a client, playing singing bowls and gongs, or simply holding space for a moment of stillness, my intention is not to tell you what you should feel or who you should become.
It is to create space for you to hear yourself more clearly.
Becoming a Teacher
Interestingly, I knew I would teach Reiki before I was ready to call myself a Reiki teacher.
During a meditation one day, I received a very clear message that someday I would teach.
I tucked that knowing away.
Then a friend came to me wanting to learn Reiki. I referred her to several Reiki Master Teachers because, in my mind, surely she should learn from someone who was already teaching.
She kept coming back to me.
Finally, she took me by the shoulders and said,
“Cami, I love you, and I want to learn from you.”
Sometimes our path becomes clear because we choose it.
And sometimes someone who knows us well holds up a mirror and asks us to recognize what is already there.
I began teaching.
And I discovered that I loved it.
Today, teaching is one of the great joys of my work. As a Senior Licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training, I teach Holy Fire® III Reiki, Karuna Reiki®, ICRT Animal Reiki, and Kid Reiki to students from many places and walks of life.
I love watching students move beyond simply learning techniques and begin developing trust in Reiki, in their own inner guidance, and in the unique way their practice wants to unfold.
My teaching is grounded in the standards and ethics of the ICRT while remaining warm, experiential, creative, and deeply human.
There is room for questions.
There is room for laughter.
There is room for curiosity, uncertainty, discovery, and those quiet moments when something suddenly makes sense.
Reiki is a practice, but it is also a relationship. One that continues to deepen long after a class is over.
Healing & Creating Sacred Space
That same sense of presence carries into my private sessions, sound experiences, and community offerings.
Reiki, sound, drumming, meditation, movement, and stillness may take different forms, but for me they are all doorways into connection.
Connection with the body.
Connection with our inner wisdom.
Connection with the quieter places within us that can become difficult to hear beneath the noise of everyday life.
My work has never been about fixing someone.
It is about creating the conditions where people can soften, listen, receive, and reconnect with themselves.
Sacred Space Begins Within
One of the things Reiki has taught me is that healing is not confined to a particular place.
Reiki can meet us across distance, in a treatment room, beside an animal, within a circle of students, through the vibration of sound, or in a quiet moment at home.
What matters most is not where we are, but our willingness to become present.
I believe sacred space is something we learn to recognize and cultivate within ourselves. When we slow down enough to listen, we create room for awareness, compassion, rest, and the wisdom that can so easily become lost beneath the noise of everyday life.
That understanding shapes the way I teach, the way I offer Reiki, and the spaces I create for others.
Sacred space begins within.
Sometimes, all we need is an invitation to return to it.
That is the heart of my work: creating space for you to listen, reconnect, and remember what is already within you.
